A little over a year ago I became a father when the latest servant of the Emperor entered the world.
Now, she's getting close to walking, and this has had an effect on my ability to paint undisturbed...
Clearly, she's interested in what Daddy's up to. As you can see, she's already reading up on the rules.
I think we have a budding general in the works. The only question is, which army is she going to want to play?
So I decided to let her choose. I set up some minis from a selection of armies, and lined them up. The choices were, left to right: Ultramarines, Orks, Blood Angels, Raven Guard, Imperial Guard, Brazen Claw, Tau, Chaos Space Marines, Salamanders, Tyranids. I presented her the selection and turned her loose...
As she got close, she took a moment to ponder her choices. I'm sure that paint scheme, army background, and tournament army lists factored heavily into her decision making...
And then she made her first choice--a common one for newly starting players: Space Marines. In this case, the Brazen Claw.
But of course, like nearly all players, she wasn't satisfied with just one army, so her second choice was Imperial Guard.
I wasn't fast enough with the camera, but her third choice turned out to be Blood Angels. Clearly she's been paying attention to the rumors about the new Codex.

I was trying to get some modeling done recently while my 3.5 year old was around. They were nids and she said that they did not look nice. Since they were different sizes she wanted to know who the mommy was. I showed her the tervigon I was working and told her it was the mommy.
Cracking post and good to see we've got another guarder onboard, we can forgive the space marine first choice, we've all done it.
I can tell you that you've got some great years ahead of you, I seriously suggest you get into scenery building, the kids love it!
What a cutie. My nine month old is a bit too destructive for minis yet... he pretty much breaks everything he touches, so daddy's stuff stays up high!
haha...I know what you mean about children affecting the hobby. My 2 year old has been pretty respectful about my minis but I definitely don't have as much time to paint and play! Oh well, I think in a few years it weill pay off when I have a player around here all the time.

Cutest post ever!!!
She's gorgeous!
And I approve of the 'Guard' choice.
Which reminds me: you should consider emailing Ron over at FtW about how you paint camo. You too, Corbane, if you haven't already done so...
Already done mate.
Thanks all for the comments. She's a treasure. :)
@Drax--I think Ron already knows about the camo stuff, he's commented on the various camo posts I've made in the past.
My 13 month old is already rolling dice (just big enough to not eat).
