Devlan Mud

Devlan Mud.  This stuff is awesome.  It's fantastic for pulling a model together, making for a great finishing touch on a model, giving it just the right amount of dirt and grime to tone down too bright colors.

But since it's so useful, GW needs to sell this by the gallon, rather than the little pots it comes in...

So I calculated how much that would cost.  It's $3.70 for 12ml...so that comes to...$1,167 a gallon.  I can't help but think that GW's profit margin on their paints must be ridiculous.  But if GW offered Devlan Mud for sale by the gallon, you'd have to think they'd give you a discount for buying in bulk.  I'm sure they wouldn't charge you a penny more than $1,150 for it.

I'm not sure.

I'm not sure they'd do that at all.

Maybe as a limited edition release box-set.

For UK employees only.

Maybe.

That really is a crazy margin, isn't it?

But helps define those crisp details (lol).

I love the old devlan mud, although lately I have become more partial to badab black and the sepia.

The mud though is probably the best all round hobby product they have put out - instantly adds something (the undefinable) to the mini being painted.

Devlan Mud is a standout product. For all your grimy needs. I'm finding that Grifon Sepia is also sneaking in there as a subtler option. Devlan Mud is probably GW's best product, definitely their most value for money product (despite the terrifying profit margins?!?)

I love Devlan Mud... but I'm a weirdo and like all the washes in their line that I've used so far, though GW's blue is maybe a little lack luster in comparison to their other washes. DM and Badab Black are the ones I go through the most though... the sepia becoming a close third.
